Kathy Brooks Musculoskeletal & Sports Physiotherapist

Kathy Brooks is a titled member of the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Association. She has post graduate qualifications in both musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy, and has worked for over 30 years in the private and public sectors. She has also completed a course in Dry Needling.

Previous professional experience includes working at The Austin Hospital as a senior physiotherapist and in multidisciplinary sports clinics. Kathy has been a physiotherapist for the Victorian Women’s Under 18 and Under 21 Hockey teams, and for a national development team. She is a keen masters swimmer and has experience in treating both masters swimmers and elite swimmers through her association with Melbourne Vicentre Swimming Club. Kathy has also worked with football teams and VFL umpires.

Her areas of special interest are the management of:
– Shoulder injuries
– Injuries in swimmers
– Acute and chronic low back and neck pain
– Knee pain, and management after knee surgery
– Clinical Pilates
– Exercise programs for those over 60 years of age

She was a clinical educator for over 10 years at The Austin Hospital for physiotherapy students from Melbourne University doing a Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and has been guest lecturer at Victoria University for the Masters in Exercise Rehabilitation course. She has served on the Sports Physiotherapy branch of the APA, during which time she was involved in the implementation and running of sports courses for physiotherapists.
