What is Manipulative Physiotherapy?

Manipulative physiotherapy is the management of musculoskeletal, sporting and occupational injuries using highly skilled soft tissue and joint mobilisation and manipulation techniques.

What is a Manipulative Physiotherapist?

All physiotherapists have some familiarity with these techniques. Physiotherapists who manage soft tissue and joint conditions undergo further training in these techniques, with some progressing to undertaking university based postgraduate studies in this field. Graduates of these advanced university courses carry the title Manipulative Physiotherapist or Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist. The term musculoskeletal physiotherapist is now more commonly used as it recognises that not all conditions require manipulation.

How can Manipulative Physiotherapy help you?

Manipulative Physiotherapy can:

  • Reduce pain
  • Result in a quicker recovery and return to activity following injury
  • Improve your flexibility, strength and co-ordination
  •  Advise you in the best management of your injury / condition
