physiotherapy is the management of musculoskeletal, sporting and occupational
injuries using highly skilled soft tissue and joint mobilisation and
manipulation techniques.
What is a Manipulative Physiotherapist?
All physiotherapists have some familiarity with these techniques. Physiotherapists who manage soft tissue and joint conditions undergo further training in these techniques, with some progressing to undertaking university based postgraduate studies in this field. Graduates of these advanced
university courses carry the title Manipulative Physiotherapist or Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist.
The term musculoskeletal physiotherapist is now more commonly used as it
recognises that not all conditions require manipulation.
